USAGE: - Originally meant for use by doctors, nurses and other health professionals at point of care, i.e medical offices and clinics, these machines are widely used by individual patients for self-testing at home. They are used for the management of oral anticoagulation therapy in patients with AFib and VTE-DVT or taking drugs such as Coumadin, Warfarin, Jantoven and similar anticoagulants and who must remain within therapeutic range.

With the INRatio2 machine, the patient does not have to wait for a hospital, clinic or lab appointment to self-test for PT/INR. It enables him/her to test more often and lowers cost. It eases the burden of anti-coagulation management for people on Coumadin, Warfarin, Jantoven, Plavix or Ticlopidine. The machine is actually very easy to use and comes with rather good training support in the way of tutorials. The device also takes care of quality control by performing on-board QCs every time you use it.
The INRatio2 device comes, of course, with all the features of the more basic INRatio meter: It requires no external liquid quality control or extra strips and you do not need a second machine just to check the electronics. The INRatio test strips can be stored at room temperature and are wrapped separately. The blood drop required for a test is very small. On top of these features, the INRatio2 meter has these new capabilities: It is a faster monitor providing test results in less than 60 seconds. The people at Hemosense / Inverness made it just as easy to operate as the remote control of your TV ...it has only one central button similar to the TV remote. It will turn-on by itself when you slide the test strip in. It also has a wider screen so the displayed digits can be read easily. Like today's PCs the interface uses simple icons and that helps speed up the test. It also makes the learning process a lot simpler. They made the area for the test strip somewhat larger to make for easier blood sample application. The Inratio2 monitor uses the standard and reliable INRatio test strips. The kit comes with the carrying case. (You will need to purchase test strips and lancets).
To see how the instrument works, you can watch the training video (one of them) in the top right corner of this page. Slide your test strip in the INRatio2 meter/monitor. Apply the small drop of blood to the test strip. The monitor will perform the PT. It will also do the two QC tests (normal and therapeutic). It will display your test results on the LCD screen less than 60 seconds later.
The four 4 AA batteries needed are included (a power adapter can be purchased for heavy use at point of care). Up to 60 test results can be stored in memory. These can be printed, transferred to your computer via a special built-in port designed for printing and electronic communication.
